Plastic Bearings designed to replace traditional bronze bearings |

May 11, 2004 By: Jean Gutter Plastic Bearings designed to replace traditional bronze bearingsIgus has introduced a new plastic plain bearing, iglide(R) R, to replace traditional bronze bearings in many applications. Iglide R, like all iglide plastic bearings, requires no lubrication, is oil-free and will not corrode. Iglide R is resistant to dirt, dust and UV rays, as well as quiet and environmentally safe, making it ideal for agricultural and outdoor applications, such as commercial mowers and golf course equipment. Iglide R is virtually maintenance-free. The benefits of using Iglide R plastic bearings over bronze bearings include: self-lubrication and maintenance-free operation; plastic-based construction eliminates corrosion and delivers better vibration dampening; plastic can handle edge loading better than bronze and plastic can support any type of movement: rotary, oscillating or linear. The iglide suite of plastic bearings offer customers the choice of more than 6,000 imperial and metric bearing sizes from stock.
