Timken Selects LogicTools’ Solution for Global Production

LogicTools, Inc., a leading developer of supply chain planning solutions, announced today that The Timken Company, a leading international manufacturer of highly engineered bearings, alloy and specialty steels and components has selected LogicTools’ supply chain coordination and master planning solution, LogicChain to optimize and analyze its global internal sourcing decisions.

LogicChain will enable Timken to make global plant production decisions based on the cost and impact of the entire supply chain. Timken can analyze various strategies and quantify the results in order to provide better service to customers and detect cost reduction opportunities.

We believe that global production decisions should be made by looking at the entire supply chain and not only the local cost. We have been testing LogicChain in various projects and determined that it has the ability to assist us in quantifying the cost of global production sources on our supply chain.

We selected LogicTools because of the ease of use, performance of their software as well as reputation and experience in supply chain optimization. stated John W. Schmidt, Manager - Global Capacity Planning at The Timken Company.

LogicTools’ solutions are used widely by Manufacturers of various sizes such as SC Johnson and Yankee Candle. The ease of use and performance of the software combined with the LogicTools’ expertise in modeling help these companies optimize the performance of their supply chains.

We are excited to work with The Timken Company on global production decisions since this is an issue at the forefront of manufacturing. Companies that have many choices in where to make a given product need to consider all the relevant supply chain costs and capacities. These decisions are difficult, especially in a global supply chain, since they impact lead times, service levels, inventory, and costs.

Our solutions can help companies make informed decisions based on the entire supply chain rather than local decisions based only on production cost. said Dr. Michael S Watson, VP Business Development at LogicTools.
