September 27, 2003 By: Mark Harris Oklahoma hitch manufacturer introduces Easy RiderTM Air Ride Hitches as safer, smooth-riding product for towing trailers with cam-follower bearingsEasy Rider, Inc. has introduced the first improvement in towing technology in over 50 years by patenting their Easy Rider™ Air Ride Hitch. Reducing tire bounce, road vibrations, and trailer sway when towing, the Easy Rider™ Air Ride Hitch integrates air ride technology at the hitch to alleviate shock transfer from rigid connections allowing both the tow vehicle or truck and the trailer to ride level as separate entities. The Easy Rider™ Air Ride Hitch is constructed with jig-welded steel, air springs, and cam-following bearings in a proprietary configuration (US Patent# 5,836,603) to reduce or eliminate unsafe motions between the tow vehicle and trailer. According to National Marketing and Sales Director of Easy Rider, Inc., Steve Cates, Easy Rider™ Air Ride Hitch separate the trailer and tow vehicle making them ride as independent vehicles. The lack of a rigid connection in turn gives the trailer the ability to move on its natural axis making it safer to pull. "This technology has been proven to put less stress on the trailer frame which reduces the amount of wear and tear on both the tow vehicle and the trailer, its furnishings or electronics like TVs and VCRs, and other contents - whether object or animal," said Cates. Russell Matheidas, former US national distributor for JAMCO Trailers said, "I’ve trailered all my life and after using your Easy Rider product, I’ve finally found a hitch system that really does make a big difference. You can see and feel the hitch working to make your ride more comfortable. Now, you and your trailer can ride on easy street." The Easy Rider™ Air Ride Hitch not only helps the trailer but smoothes the ride for the driver and passengers in the tow vehicle as well. This is accomplished by the same principle that gives the trailer a better ride. The tow vehicle does not get the bounce from the trailer that occurs without the Easy Rider™ Air Ride Hitch. This gives the tow vehicle virtually the same ride as would occur without the trailer. The Easy Rider™ Air Ride Hitches are constructed with jig-welded steel, Goodyear™ heavy-duty air springs and 5,200 lb. cam-follower bearings. These Easy Rider™ Air Ride Hitch separate the trailer and tow vehicle making them ride independently. This in turn gives the trailer the ability to move on its natural axis, making it safer to pull. This makes pulling with the heavy trailer and light truck combination safer because it gives the driver a better chance of staying in control of the vehicle by cutting down on the bounce, jerk, and sway that is inherent when towing a trailer, especially in extreme weather circumstances. Easy Rider™ Air Ride Hitch systems are available for almost any type of towing situation. The product line includes receiver hitches for standard ball hitch, pintle hitch or weight distribution in the Class 4 and 5 weight categories. The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) have tested and VESC Regulations V-5 have validated this hitch for a Class 4 rating (1,000 pounds tongue weight and 10,000 pounds gross trailer weight). The Easy Rider™ Air Ride Hitch gooseneck version is built to withstand 6,000 pounds tongue weight and 20,000 pounds gross trailer weight. The company also makes 15K, 20K, and 22K fifth wheel hitch versions all built to handle 5,000 pounds tongue weight and up to 22,000 pounds gross trailer weight. About
