September 27, 2003 By: Mark Harris Low drag bearing torque sensor informationSensor Developments Inc. has recently created a unique custom torque sensor design which allows bearing manufacturers to resolve very low torque levels, while still applying high radial loads to evaluate their products. Using a unique two load cell combination, this new sensor is capable of with-standing radial loads up to 10,000lbs, but still resolve torque levels down to 0.5in-lbs. Bearings requiring these stringent evaluations include roller, journal, and ball bearings and are used in many areas including the automotive and aerospace industries.
